Château Montaiguillon, Montagne-St-Emilion, Bordeaux, France 2019 Half bottle

Château Montaiguillon, Montagne-St-Emilion, Bordeaux, France 2019 Half bottle

Tasting note and pairing; plums and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, palate with medium to soft tannins. Will go well with pate and cheese.

Owned and run by the Amart family, this excellent property is in Montagne-Saint-Emilion, one of the satellite appellations of Saint-Emilion to the north-east of the town.

In 1973 the towns of St Georges and Pairac were combined to create Montagne. A sizeable estate of 31 hectares of vineyard producing about 180,000 bottles a year. An ancient villa that is said to date from the fourth century, that some historians believe belonged to the poet Ausonius who gave his name to Ausone, is at the heart of this attractive and traditionally-run estate.
